The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern, central, and southern Kenya, as well as northern Tanzania, near the African Great Lakes region. Known for their distinct culture, traditions, and semi-nomadic lifestyle, the Maasai have managed to retain many of their customs despite external pressures and modernization. The Maasai speak the Maa language (ɔl Maa), which belongs to the Nilotic language family. This family also includes languages spoken by other ethnic groups such as the Dinka, Kalenjin, and Nuer.
