The Kalenjin are a group of tribes indigenous to East Africa, primarily found in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya and on the eastern slopes of Mount Elgon in Uganda. According to the 2019 Kenyan census, the Kalenjin population is approximately 6,358,113 individuals, with an estimated 273,839 living in Uganda as per the 2014 census, mainly in the districts of Kapchorwa, Kween, and Bukwo. The Kalenjin people are divided into 11 culturally and linguistically related tribes.
